TOMMY

Wi-Fi sensing for Home Assistant

Visit TOMMY

TOMMY is a Wi-Fi sensing system that reads Channel State Information from Wi-Fi packets to turn existing devices into presence sensors. It runs on your own hardware, and sensing data stays on your local network. A zone is defined by placing two or more devices, with detection covering the space between them, including areas behind walls and furniture.

The system supports ESP32-based devices, including ESP32-C5, C6, C3, S3, S2, and ESP32 boards, either as dedicated devices flashed via the TOMMY Flasher or alongside existing ESPHome configurations. It integrates with Home Assistant and Matter, and includes a dashboard with a Signal Visualizer for live CSI analysis. Zones support star and mesh topologies, three performance modes, and three detection algorithms (Contained, Standard, Radar). Detection modes include motion on all devices and stationary presence on capable hardware. The server runs as a Docker container or through the Home Assistant App.
