START Natural Language Question Answering System
Web-based question answering system that responds to English questions with specific facts
START is a natural language question answering service developed by Boris Katz and colleagues in the InfoLab Group at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL). Rather than returning a ranked list of matching pages, it aims to provide a direct answer to the question asked. The service has been operating continuously online since December 1993.
The system accepts questions phrased in natural language and responds with answers rather than links. It is offered as an online service, with no separate editions, seat-based licensing, free plan, or trial described.
