StackEdit is an open-source, browser-based Markdown editor built on PageDown, the Markdown library used by Stack Overflow and other Stack Exchange sites. It provides syntax highlighting, WYSIWYG-style formatting controls, and a smart layout that supports writing, reviewing, and commenting. A live preview with Scroll Sync keeps the editor and rendered output aligned as you write.
The editor supports GitHub Flavored Markdown, Markdown Extra, and CommonMark, with individual Markdown features that can be enabled or disabled. It also renders LaTeX mathematical expressions, UML sequence diagrams and flow charts, ABC musical scores, and Markdown emoji markup. Files can be synced with Google Drive, Dropbox, and GitHub, and published to Blogger, WordPress, and Zendesk in Markdown, HTML, or Handlebars-templated output. Collaborative workspaces support shared editing with automatic change merging, inline comments, and embedded discussions. StackEdit remains accessible offline in the browser.
