RQDA
R-based Qualitative Data Analysis
RQDA is an R package for qualitative data analysis of textual data, released under the BSD license. It provides a GUI built on RGtk2 and stores all information in a single SQLite database file (*.rqda) in UTF-8 encoding. It integrates with R for statistical analysis of coding and extension of data manipulation functions.
Through the GUI, RQDA can import plain text documents and PDF highlights, support non-English documents, perform character-level coding, edit files after coding, and create memos for documents, codes, coding, projects, and files. It supports retrieval of coding with conditional retrieval, organizes codes into code categories and files into file categories, searches files by keywords with highlighting, applies attributes to files, and includes case categories with related attributes. It also supports temporary deletion, renaming of files, codes, code categories, and cases, and field work journals. Through R functions, it can manipulate temporary deletions, import batches of files, calculate relations between codings, summarize coding and inter-code relationships, export file and case attributes, perform conditional retrieval, and apply Boolean operations to codings, files, or cases.
RQDA runs on Windows, Linux/FreeBSD, and Mac OSX. It is distributed as a free, open-source package under the BSD license and is installed through R.
