Quickwit
Search engine for logs and traces on cloud storage
Quickwit is a search and analytics engine written in Rust that stores and searches data directly on object storage, targeting logs and traces. It decouples compute and storage, with stateless searchers and indexers, so data volume can grow independently of query capacity. Schemaless indexing removes the need to define a schema up front, and queries run against object storage in sub-second time.
It is OpenTelemetry and Jaeger native, exposes a REST API, and runs on-premise, single or multi-node, on Kubernetes, or alongside Kafka. It supports multi-tenancy through many indexes and partitioning, retention and lifecycle policies, and targeted deletions for GDPR use cases. It connects to object stores such as Amazon S3, MinIO, and Ceph, and to queues such as Apache Kafka and Amazon Kinesis.
Quickwit is aimed at DevOps and data engineers building log management and tracing pipelines. It is released as open and free community-based software; no paid editions, trials, or seat-based or usage-based packaging are described.
