PunBB
Fast and lightweight PHP-powered discussion board
PunBB is a fast, lightweight discussion board written in PHP and released under the GNU General Public License. It is designed to be quicker and less graphically intensive than other forum software, producing smaller, semantically correct XHTML-compliant pages. It requires a database for storing forum data and supports MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQLite.
The software includes official extensions, a style generator, and documentation for its extension system. Version 1.4 added features such as international domain name support, topic subscriptions, automatic time zone detection on registration, minified and asynchronously loaded JavaScript and styles, and simplified login, registration, and search forms. Version 1.4.3 introduced responsive design support and an OpenSearch plugin. PunBB deliberately omits certain features such as private messaging, file attachments, polls, and subforums, though third-party mods can provide them. PunBB.NET, a related project built on ASP.NET, is also available.
PunBB is intended for website operators seeking a simple, easy-to-administer forum. It is distributed as free, open-source software under the GPL, with downloads available for versions 1.4, 1.3, and 1.2.
