PDFsam is a free, open-source desktop application for splitting, merging, extracting, rotating and mixing PDF files. It runs entirely on the user's computer, so files are never uploaded and no internet connection is required. The product line includes PDFsam Basic, PDFsam Visual and PDFsam Enhanced.
PDFsam Basic provides six modules: merge, split, mix, rotate, extract pages and insert pages. It supports page ranges, bookmark handling, AcroForms, tables of contents, splitting by page numbers, size or bookmark level, and interleaving pages from single-sided scans. PDFsam Visual offers more than 25 tools, including compression, page organization, split by text, page deletion, cropping, image-to-PDF conversion, metadata cleaning, grayscale conversion, N-up layouts, PDF/A validation, resizing and encryption. PDFsam Enhanced is a Windows PDF editor with text and image editing, conversion to Office formats, OCR, fillable forms, annotations, digital signatures, encryption, watermarking and a PDF reader supporting PDF, ePub and comic book files.
PDFsam Basic is free and open source, with no watermarks or file size limits, available on Windows, macOS and Linux. PDFsam Visual is available on Windows, macOS and Linux with a 14-day trial, offered as a perpetual license or subscription. PDFsam Enhanced runs on Windows only, with a free viewer and PDF creation requiring registration, and a yearly subscription for the full editor. Both paid editions are licensed per user, with volume discounts available.
