OSSEC is a free, open-source host-based intrusion detection system (HIDS) that runs on multiple platforms including Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Unix, and macOS. It provides log analysis, file integrity checking, malware detection, and active response. The project is managed by Atomicorp, which also offers a commercial version called Atomic OSSEC with additional enterprise features such as EDR, SIEM, vulnerability management, antivirus, endpoint firewall management, a GUI, machine learning, and professional support.
