Oculus' Mobile VR Jam 2015
Let's jam. It's time to create new worlds that go anywhere with the Gear VR Innovator Edit
Oculus' Mobile VR Jam 2015 was a public online hackathon hosted on Devpost, running from April 13 to May 11, 2015. It invited participants to build games, apps, and experiences for the Gear VR Innovator Edition, with a total prize pool of $1,020,000 split between two tracks: Game and App or Experience. The competition used a staged submission process with four milestones: a pitch, screenshots, a video, and a final build. Eligible entrants who selected Unity and completed the required steps could receive a $50 Unity Asset Store credit.
The hackathon supported individual, team, and organization entries, with participants choosing Unity, Unreal, or another game engine. Submissions were judged in two rounds, with criteria covering overall VR experience and innovation in VR mechanics, including multi-user interaction, head tracking, touchpad, and user interface. The event was open internationally, subject to eligibility restrictions, and required participants to be 18 or older. Winners were announced in early June 2015.
