Nix

Declarative builds and deployments.

Visit Nix

Nix is a tool for package management and system configuration that builds packages in isolation from one another. This approach aims to make builds reproducible and free of undeclared dependencies, so a package that works on one machine will also work on another. Installing or upgrading one package cannot break other packages, and previous versions can be rolled back.

Nix makes it straightforward to share development and build environments across projects regardless of programming languages and tools. The Nix Packages collection (Nixpkgs) provides a large selection of packages for the Nix package manager. The homepage also points to examples covering trying new tools, declarative development environments, minimal Docker images, declarative cloud images, and configuration testing.
