Neverkin
A worldbuilding platform for organizing notes, stories and campaign material.
Neverkin is a free, open-source worldbuilding and collaborative writing app for organizing notes, lore, timelines, and interconnected stories. It keeps material private by default, with sharing and access controls applied only when chosen.
Features include a wiki with characters, events, and articles grouped by folders, tags, and mentions; real-time collaboration synced over the network; a visual mindmap; an interactive timeline; custom calendars; and an MCP server for connecting an AI assistant. Data can be exported and imported as JSON. It runs as a web app and a desktop app, and can be self-hosted.
It is aimed at novelists, game masters, screenwriters, writing groups, worldbuilders, and indie game developers. It is licensed under GPL-3.0, with no paid tiers or credit cards; the hosted version is free, and a desktop download or self-hosting are also available.
