Neovim

hyperextensible Vim-based text editor

Visit Neovim

Neovim is a Vim-based text editor designed for extensibility and usability. It retains Vim's editing model and Vimscript v1 compatibility while adding Lua as the built-in configuration and plugin language. The current stable release is version 0.12.

Key features include a discoverable, versioned API; ubiquitous RPC for extensions in any language; Tree-sitter parsing for syntax highlighting and text objects; multicursor support; LSP integration for code inspection and refactoring; and a built-in terminal. It also supports multiplexing via :connect, :detach, and :restart, and works consistently across platforms with modern terminal features enabled by default. GUIs such as Firenvim, vscode-neovim, Neovide, and Neovim Qt are available as separate projects.

Neovim is intended for developers who want a highly configurable terminal editor and for those building editor-based applications. It is free and open source, with no paid editions or usage-based pricing.
