NALA is a consumer multi-currency account and money transfer service that lets users receive, hold, convert and send money across borders from a single account. It addresses the cost and reliability issues of cross-border payments, particularly for emerging markets. The service supports transfers to 35+ countries and holds balances in currencies including KES, EUR, GBP, USD, RWF, UGX, TZS and USDC.
Key features include real-time FX rates with transparent fees, transfer status notifications and emails, a NALA Friends feature for splitting bills and sharing expenses, and a daily transfer limit of up to 5,000 in local currency. Funds are held in US dollar-backed stablecoin. For businesses, Rafiki is a single API for global payouts and collections, enabling settlement in local currency or stablecoins across the US, UK, Europe, Asia and Africa. The consumer service is available through a mobile app, with 24/7 support.
