Mobilizon is a federated, open-source platform for finding, creating and sharing events and groups. Rather than operating as a single central service, it consists of interconnected Mobilizon websites that form part of the fediverse, allowing communities to run their own instances while remaining linked to others. It is positioned as an ethical tool rather than a social network, and is publicly auditable free software maintained by a community.
Core capabilities include creating, modifying and deleting events with a draft mode before publication, sharing events on social media or by email, and adding events to agendas. Activities represent year-round events, and a search bar finds events by keyword, place or date. Participation can be managed with email notifications. Groups provide public pages for posting content, member management and private content. Instance administrators can moderate users and remove reported content. An API supports importing and exporting events in ICS and RSS formats, and event publishing can be automated. The platform is available in more than 20 languages with global geocoding.
Mobilizon suits cooperatives, associations, activists, public institutions and other communities organizing volunteers, workshops or events. It can be self-hosted from documentation or run through professional hosting services, and users can also join existing Mobilizon websites. The software is free and open source; financial support for the project is provided through donations to its maintainer.
