MetaGer
Search safely while having your privacy respected.
MetaGer is a metasearch engine that combines results from multiple search indexes, including projects such as YaCy, to provide diverse results without advertising, tracking or logging. It is developed and operated by the non-profit association SUMA-EV, with open source code and transparent algorithms. The service also includes an anonymizing proxy, "Open Anonymously," which opens websites in a private browser running on MetaGer's servers, with session data deleted when the session ends.
Key features include ad-free search, deep links, news and video results, image search drawing on additional sources, a personal blacklist, search-within-search, and a Tor service. MetaGer Maps provides a privacy-friendly map and route planner based on OpenStreetMap data. Access is provided through a randomly generated key rather than an account, usable across multiple devices. A browser extension and Android app are available, with anonymous tokens offered for provably tracking-free searches. The service is funded through a one-time payment that adds credit to a key, with a balance that typically lasts around two months; SUMA-EV members can search ad free.
