Manabi Reader is a reading app for Japanese learners. It lets users browse web feeds, import books and files, scan text with the camera, and listen to spoken audio. Tapping a word shows dictionary definitions and furigana, and users can create flashcards for Anki or the companion Manabi Flashcards app. The app tracks which words and kanji the user has encountered and understood, and shows comprehension stats per article. Reading data is stored locally on the device and in personal iCloud; flashcard data for Manabi Flashcards is stored on Manabi servers, but Anki flashcards are not sent to servers.
