Koha

A free and open source library management system developed by a community of libraries

Visit Koha

Koha is a free and open source integrated library system (ILS) distributed under the GPL version 3 or later. It addresses the day-to-day operational needs of libraries by providing web-based interfaces for managing collections, patrons, and circulation, including an offline circulation mode for when internet access is unavailable.

Koha includes modules for acquisitions, circulation, cataloging, serials management, authorities, flexible reporting, label printing, and multi-format notices. Its OPAC, circulation, management, and self-checkout interfaces are built on web standards (XHTML, CSS, JavaScript). The system supports library standards and protocols including MARC 21, UNIMARC, Z39.50, SRU/SW, SIP2, and SIP/NCIP, and can enhance catalogue display with content from sources such as Amazon, Google, LibraryThing, Open Library, and Syndetics. Koha is multilingual and translatable.

Koha is intended for single-branch libraries, multi-branch libraries, and consortia of varying sizes. It is free software with no vendor lock-in: libraries can install and run it themselves or purchase support and development services from third parties.
