IPFS.io Public Gateway
Public gateway for opening IPFS content in a web browser
The IPFS.io Public Gateway is a free public gateway maintained by the IPFS Foundation that lets anyone load content stored on the public IPFS network in an ordinary web browser. It accepts HTTP requests for IPFS content, retrieves that content over IPFS, verifies it against the requested content identifier (CID), and returns it over HTTP. The same gateway service is published on the ipfs.io and dweb.link domains.
The gateway runs Rainbow, an implementation of the IPFS HTTP Gateway API, and supports trustless content types that enable verifiable retrieval when explicitly requested by the client. HTTP Range requests are supported for files up to 5GiB. An Acceptable Use Policy governs content served through the gateway, with an abuse and takedown process that can add content identifiers to a denylist, after which the gateways return a 410 error for that content.
The gateway is intended for users who need to access IPFS content without running IPFS directly, and is described as an interim solution rather than production infrastructure. It is provided free of charge on an as-is basis, with no paid editions or seat-based plans. Support is available through the IPFS discussion forums, and self-hosting documentation is provided for those who want to run their own gateway.
