Herdr

The runtime coding agents run on.

Visit Herdr

Herdr is a background server that hosts coding-agent terminal sessions on your own machines, so agents continue running after you close your laptop lid or lose the network. It restores the layout and resumes sessions after a machine restart, and lets you attach again from any machine. It detects agent status in each pane, marking them working, blocked, or idle, so you can see which agents need attention without checking each terminal individually.

Herdr exposes a CLI and a socket API that agents can drive directly, allowing them to split panes, start one another, prompt one another, and wait for another agent to become genuinely blocked. It runs existing agent CLIs such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, opencode, Grok, Copilot, and others without wrapping or replacing them, detecting 22 agent CLIs out of the box. It runs as a single binary on macOS, Linux, and Windows, and supports adding remote machines over SSH so their workspaces and agents appear alongside local ones. A Herdr Cloud option that connects machines without SSH configuration is listed as coming soon. Herdr is distributed under the Apache 2.0 license.
