FMD Server is a self-hostable web server that connects to the FMD Android app to locate and remotely control an Android device. It addresses the need to find a lost or misplaced phone and act on it from a browser. Commands can request GPS location or nearby cell tower location, take a picture, lock the device, ring it, or perform a factory reset. FMD is decentralised, so users keep control of their own data.

The server provides a web interface for issuing these commands, and commands can also travel over SMS or third-party messaging apps such as Signal and Matrix. The project is open source, with security documentation, static analysis, reproducible builds, signature verification, and a coordinated vulnerability disclosure process. FMD Android and FMD Server can be paired with a custom repository.

FMD Server is intended for users who want to host their own instance rather than rely on a hosted server, alongside the FMD Android app. The project is provided on a best-effort basis as a side project. No free plan, trial, editions, or seat-based or usage-based packaging is stated for the server itself.
