Enso Retreat
A gentle break reminder for Windows.
Enso Retreat is a small Windows application that periodically locks the screen behind a translucent overlay, prompting users to look away, stretch and rest their eyes before returning to work. Keyboard and mouse input is blocked during the break, while the desktop remains visible behind the overlay.
Breaks are preceded by a heads-up alert that can be delayed. Timing can be configured with a Pomodoro schedule or a custom Crontab pattern, and breaks can be skipped automatically when a chosen app is running or when there is no activity to interrupt. The overlay can display any picture, and its transparency is adjustable with the numpad + and − keys. Enso Retreat is also available as an optional module embedded in Enso Launcher, alongside the standalone app.
The app is free and open source, packaged as a standalone download for Windows.
