Dodona

The programming classroom, supercharged

Visit Dodona

Dodona is an online practice platform for programming education in secondary and higher education. Students write code in a built-in browser editor or connect external IDEs such as Visual Studio Code and JetBrains, then submit solutions that are tested for correctness, performance, and style. Automated feedback, hints, and a visual debugger help learners iterate, while teachers create courses, set deadlines, grade code, and monitor progress through learning analytics.

The platform supports more than 20 programming languages, including Python, JavaScript, HTML, and SQL, and works with Markdown, HTML, and multimedia content. Exercises and courses can be authored collaboratively, stored in external GitHub repositories, or published as interactive content. Additional capabilities include AI assistance built on a teacher-in-the-loop approach, built-in plagiarism detection, exam and assessment creation, and dashboards for tracking engagement and misconceptions. Dodona integrates with institutional systems through single sign-on options including Microsoft, Google Workspace, Smartschool, and SURFconext, as well as Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI).

Dodona is free for teachers, who can request instructor rights to create and manage courses and access ready-made exercise libraries. Student licenses are priced per user based on usage, with unlimited access to platform features and content. A GCSE license covers GCSE-aligned programming content, and a campus license provides tiered annual pricing for unlimited student access across an institution.
