Discovered Materials
Accelerating the lab-to-fab timeline
Discovered Materials builds AI agents that discover new materials for semiconductor chips, addressing the long and costly path from a laboratory result to fabrication. The company also develops Material Discovery Bench, an open-source benchmark for measuring AI-driven materials discovery capability.
Its AI agents are used to simulate, synthesize and test materials, with work reported on thermal interface materials. Material Discovery Bench tests frontier model ability on a real-world materials problem and includes multiple verifiers for grading, with additional verifiers planned across simulation and experiment. The benchmark was built in collaboration with experts from IBM, IMEC, Stanford and Cambridge.
The company is aimed at teams working on semiconductor materials and the lab-to-fab process, and it is backed by a $9M seed round led by Lightspeed, with participation from Y Combinator and Peak XV.
