Visit Cover Your Tracks

Cover Your Tracks is a tool and research project from the Electronic Frontier Foundation that shows how unique and identifiable your browser is online and tests how well tracker blockers protect you. Running the test simulates loading various types of trackers and analyzes the uniqueness of your browser fingerprint, generating a report about your tracker protections and browser fingerprint for your own use.

The test simulates ad, beacon, and Do Not Track tracking requests to trigger different blocking approaches, including URL-parameter, per-domain, and heuristic blockers such as Privacy Badger. It measures browser fingerprinting signals including user agent, headers, screen resolution, timezone, plugins, fonts, JavaScript support, cookie handling, canvas and WebGL fingerprint hashes, Do Not Track header, platform, language, and touchscreen support, then compares these against a database of recent visitor configurations to produce a uniqueness score. Only anonymous data is collected.

The project is aimed at individual users seeking to understand their browser's privacy protections, and also serves as a research effort to evaluate tracker capabilities and privacy add-on efficacy. It is available as a free web-based test with no stated plans, editions, or seat-based pricing.
