BuildBuddy is a developer productivity platform for Bazel, the open source build system. It addresses slow and hard-to-debug builds by providing remote build execution, remote caching, and a results store that captures build logs, test logs, invocation details, target information, and artifacts for inspection and sharing.
Its main components include the Build & Test UI, Remote Execution, Remote Cache, Workflows (a CI system for Bazel), and the BuildBuddy CLI, which is built on Bazelisk and supports plugins, authentication, and flaky network conditions. A community Plugin Library extends the CLI. Authentication supports OpenID Connect and SAML, integrating with providers such as Google Auth, Okta, and Auth0. The platform is available as BuildBuddy Cloud or deployed on-premises.
BuildBuddy targets individual developers, small teams, startups, and larger organizations. It is open-core, with features for individual developers available under an MIT license. Cloud plans include a free Personal tier, a pay-as-you-go Team tier billed on cache transfer beyond an included allowance, and a quote-based Enterprise tier with SSO/SAML, unlimited remote execution cores, isolated infrastructure, and dedicated support. An enterprise on-premises offering is available managed or self-managed.
