Budibase is an open-source low-code platform for building AI agents, internal tools, and workflow automations. It addresses the problem of operational work scattered across spreadsheets, inboxes, and chat threads by connecting to databases, spreadsheets, REST APIs, and business systems, letting teams automate requests, approvals, and routine processes with their own data, LLMs, and APIs.
Key capabilities include Agents (with instructions, knowledge retrieval including pgvector, tool access across hundreds of tools, and model choice from providers like OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, and Google), Apps (drag-and-drop builder, forms, RBAC, responsive layouts, one-click app generation from data, custom JavaScript/CSS with AI code generation), Automations, Data Tables, an API explorer, and Connectors. Agents can deploy in Automations, Budibase Chat, and Discord, with Teams and Slack listed as coming soon. Security features include RBAC, SSO, SCIM & AD, audit logs, environment variables, and user groups.
Budibase is aimed at IT teams and organizations building internal tools and automations, including regulated environments. It is open-source and can be self-hosted (Kubernetes, Docker, air-gapped) or run on Budibase Cloud.
