The Authorization Platform for AI and Modern Applications
AuthZed is authorization infrastructure for applications and AI systems, built around the open-source SpiceDB permissions database. It replaces hand-written permission logic with a declarative model: define a schema, write relationships, and ask permission checks through a single API, covering user access, agent tool calls, and per-document RAG.
Core capabilities include team-based access control, customer-managed permissions, sharing and link access, permission-aware lists and search, retrieval-augmented generation, and replacement of legacy authorization. Integration is available through REST, gRPC, and SDKs for Go, TypeScript, Python, and more, with fine-grained scopes for MCP. Security features include encryption at rest, private VPC connectivity, audit logging, and API key management. Open-source components include SpiceDB, the SpiceDB Operator, and the zed command-line tool.
AuthZed targets platform, AI, and security teams in enterprise SaaS, financial services, and AI platforms. Packaging spans a free self-hosted open-source edition under Apache-2.0, a usage-based managed Cloud plan with hourly metered billing, a Dedicated Cloud option priced on reserved vCPU capacity, and a subscription-based Self-Hosted edition licensed per region and per vCPU; support tiers range from community to standard, premium, and enterprise.
